Type: Farm

Tuell Farm is a beautiful, tranquil place to visit; a healing place to relax, unwind and recover from the pace of every day life.

Our 2 cottages have recently been converted from an original ancient stone barn to the highest standards, to ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible. Each cottage features spacious bedrooms, cosy lounge and dining areas, wood burners and newly fitted kitchens and bathrooms. There is also a free Wi fi / cable internet connection.

Outside there is a pebbled patio for each cottage with outdoor chairs and table, plus a lawn area for playing and relaxing in, along with the original Tuell Farm well (water not accessible). (“Tuell” means “two wells”).

Horseshoe Cottage is a cosy cottage with an open plan spacious atmosphere with a handmade wooden staircase up to two comfortable wooden beamed bedrooms; one twin and one double with under floor heating throughout the cottage.

Fig Tree Cottage is our larger cottage, with a beautiful hallway and galleried wooden staircase, so that you really feel the atmosphere of the original barn. The entrance hall has a small sofa and bean bags, for informal relaxing, and a spiralling staircase to the upstairs gallery – a perfect space for children to relax away from the lounge or kitchen.

The main double bedroom is very spacious room with an en-suite toilet and shower. The main family bathroom is across the gallery, plus 2 twin bedrooms, with wooden beams, and cosy windows.

Walk through our apple orchard and fields, paddle in the stream, watch the buzzards overhead, meet our rare breed Grey Face Dartmoor sheep, Dartmoor hill ponies and free range chickens. We have plenty of animals to see and a swing and trampoline in the orchard. Well behaved dogs are welcome, (on a lead in the farmyard please, due to the chickens!). We have plenty of fields for dog walking and Dartmoor nearby for proper trekking.

If you are interested in nature our land is full of wildlife with summer nesting swallows, chattering jackdaws, buzzards, rabbits, voles and deer in the fields and sightings of many rare birds including goldfinches, goldcrest, sparrow hawks, spotted flycatchers, nuthatches and long-tailed tits. You are welcome to walk in our fields and orchard, swing on the rope swing over the stream, fuss the animals and see the wild flower meadows we are hoping to create. Dogs must be kept on leads in the farmyard, and in any fields containing animals.

There is a shop, pub, and golf course nearby.

Both cottages can be let for groups of family/friends at discounted rate – please enquire.

Located just outside Milton Abbot, the cottages nestle in the undiscovered Tamar Valley between Tavistock and Launceston. In the heart of the West Country you are within easy travelling distance of North Cornish Atlantic Coast and South Devon coast and estuaries (approx 35 mins.), Dartmoor (15 min.s) & The Eden Project. Tavistock is a lovely market town (10 mins.), plus local shop & café in Milton Abbot village.
