Eating Out

Launceston, once the capital of Cornwall and now considered the gateway to the County has an excellent range of places to eat, whether it is fish 'n' chips for the family or a fusion Indian meal, Launceston can caters all tastes.

Most establishments use ingredients sourced from the wide range of excellent local produce that is available all year round. Restaurants in the locality are an excellent place to eat; there are tea shops and cafes for those requiring a lighter lunch or an afternoon tea.  Why not enjoy a traditional Cornish cream tea during your visit; did you know that in Cornwall the jam is placed on the scone first followed by cream, whereas if you're in Devon the tradition is for cream first and then the jam?

When out and about exploring the area, cosy country pubs are great places to stop and try local ale. Many pubs serve Sunday lunches, evening meals, and tempting bar snacks.

Food festivals are an excellent place to try out some local produce and see talented local chef's in action, using seasonal produce to create mouth watering tempting dishes. You can be certain of a memorable meal when you visit their restaurants, a true culinary experience!
