Walking

Launceston, set in the depths of beautiful countryside where walkers will be spoilt for choice when taking a short stroll  or planning a long distance hike; you really can escape to the country.

Launceston has two town trails to help you find out more about the heritage of this market town. One trail concentrates on the town itself , the other takes you to the historic Newport area.

Launceston Castle is the starting point for not only the Two Castles Trail heading to Okehampton Castle but also the Tamar Discovery heading towards Plymouth. both of these walks link with connecting long distance trails.

Many local villages have lanes and foot paths to explore, great for a family or dog friendly walk. Woodland and river walks are popular whatever the time of year.

Set between two moors, Bodmin Moor and Dartmoor, visitors to Launceston will find the area has easy access to wide open spaces and multi use trails such as the Camel Trail and the Granite Trail.

Sections of the South West Coast Path are also an easy drive away. Walkers will find golden sands, rocky cliffs and pounding seas on exhilarating coastal trails.
